April 1, 2022 — Today, Tanisha Sullivan announced that Lezlie Braxton Campbell and Aaron Soroa-Alvarez have both joined her campaign as Regional Organizers. Campbell will focus on communities west of Worcester, while Soroa-Alvarez will lead organizing efforts in the Merrimack Valley.
“I’m so excited to welcome both Lezlie and Aaron to our team,” said Sullivan. “Lezlie and Aaron come with deep roots in their respective communities, and a proven commitment to grassroots organizing. As we continue to build a statewide, community-focused campaign, both Lezlie and Aaron will play a critical role in connecting people to our campaign and communicating our shared vision of a stronger, more vibrant, and more expansive democracy for everyone in Massachusetts.”
Campbell is a former middle school educator who ran for the office of Ward 3 City Council in Springfield. He is active politically and civically across the Commonwealth in many different organizations, including Young Democrats of MA, the Democratic State Committee of the MA Democratic Party, and Neighbor to Neighbor. He is also the current Legislation Chair for the Young Democrats of America. Lezlie also served as the Deputy Campaign Manager for Senator Adam Gomez’s 2020 campaign. Lezlie is an advocate for youth, education equity, civic engagement, and the LGBTQ+ community.
Soroa-Alvarez was born and raised in East Boston, where from a young age he witnessed his mother work and navigate through Boston politics. Following his graduation from the University of New Hampshire, he has worked in the Massachusetts’ House of Representatives as a Legislative Aide and then District Director for State Representative Frank Moran of the 17th Essex District. He is fluent in Spanish, and takes pride in his Honduran and Cuban background.
Campbell and Soroa-Alvarez will work closely with Nate Roberts, who joined Team Tanisha in early March as Organizing Director. Roberts was most recently Outreach and Engagement Manager for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s Vaccine Equity Initiative in Fall River and New Bedford. Prior to that, he worked on voter turnout in Pennsylvania in the run up to the 2020 election, and as a Field Organizer on Senator Ed Markey’s successful re-election campaign.
