March 15, 2022 — Today, Tanisha Sullivan announced a new addition to her campaign team, bringing on Kristen Halbert as Finance Director.
“I couldn’t be more excited to have Kristen on our team,” said Sullivan. “She is a highly skilled and respected political strategist with deep campaign and advocacy experience. Kristen brings an extensive network, a wealth of knowledge about the issues at hand across the Commonwealth, and shares my passion for community-driven solutions we can harness to advance voting rights and expand opportunity for all. I’m thrilled to work alongside her to continue growing this grassroots campaign.”
Previously, Halbert worked as a Training and Professional Learning Specialist at the Massachusetts Teachers Association, where she is a former member. Before that, she worked as a Community Engagement Senior Account Manager at Archipelago Strategies Group and consultant for GOTVax. During her career, she has served in a variety of political roles — including GOTV Director for Stephanie Everett for State Rep, Community Engagement Advisor for David Halbert for Boston City Council, Deputy Director of Strategic Partnerships at Voter Choice Massachusetts, and as Civic Engagement Director for former Boston City Councilor At-Large and current Mayor of Boston Michelle Wu. Halbert has also held a number of volunteer leadership roles, including as a political communications trainer for Emerge MA and the co-chair of recruitment for New Leaders Council Boston; she currently serves on the Board of Directors for Dorchester Bay Economic Development Corporation, as well as on the Massachusetts Democratic State Committee.
“Tanisha embodies what our next Secretary of State should be — a fierce advocate for transparency, accessibility, opportunity and civic engagement who is committed to social, economic and racial justice,” said Halbert. “I believe that Tanisha’s leadership is what the people of Massachusetts deserve in this moment, and I’m so excited to work with the campaign team, our communities, leaders, advocates, and organizers across the Commonwealth to elect Tanisha and build a stronger democracy for all.”
